IMPORTANT:
This is one of SA's most popular events, but runs rarely
due to the owner having to run ghost 'tours' in 8 cities around SA.
This unique event sells out quickly, because of the 48 seats,
people tend to book fun groups of 4 to 10 people at a time.
So book way in advance for the next event in a few months' time.
(See how to 'Follow' us under one of the points here)
We do however run Private events on
dates other than our rare Public dates
(eg: birthday parties, corporates, for your clients, etc.)
for 24 to 48 or more persons !!
There are also Discount Stay Over options
if you want a Get-Away with much to do the next day !!
DATE & TIME: 'Once-Off' for the Public on 17 February, 2023, from 6pm to 10pm (For Private bookings see details at the bottom of this page)
VENUE: Heidelberg
(Gauteng) olde Victorian Train Station, about 30 km from
Johannesburg (with discount stay over option). Part of the production
takes place in 2 vintage
dining cars (coaches) which are precious museum pieces and are not
allowed to move (we are lucky to use them). But you won't know that
there is no movement, because we add effects as if the train is moving. The other parts of the production takes
place in the dark & eerie station hall.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:
This
is a unique production, and the only one of its kind in SA, where
people travel afar (of fly in) due to its popularity. You will be
served a 5-star, 3-course meal, on 2 vintage museum-piece dining cars.
Because the dining cars don't actually move, you can exit them at any
time to use the train station's toilets.
(1). The
production begins with drinks, shooters and Starters on the dining cars, followed by a ghost
tour of SA's most haunted olde Victorian train station (opened in
1895). The olde steam train
whistle blows, the clickety-clack of the sounds of the wheels on the
rails begins, and you are off to the next train station stop called
"Spookheuwel" (the train doesn't actually move, but we add effects
as if it is moving).
(2). At "Spookheuwel" you will enter the station's hall. Here, you will be treated to classic countryside (veld) ghost stories from around SA, by the light of the moon on a black backdrop and the sounds of crickets occasionally chirping, as if you are really outside in the eerie night air. Then it is back to the dining car for the Main Course, as the train leaves for the next stop called "Victoria Hollow".
(3). At "Victoria Hollow" you will leave the dining car and enter the station's hall again, but which is decorated differently this time so that you think you are at a different station stop yet again. Here you will enjoy the 'Vaudeville Spook Stage Show' (just like such stage shows were presented from the 1880s to 1920s), where you will be entertained to the hilt by candlelight with all manner of eerie visual effects. Then it is back to the dining cars for Dessert plus drinks, liqueurs, coffee and/or tea.

THE NEXT DAY (IF YOU WANT A TOTAL GET-AWAY) or IF YOU ARRIVE EARLY: If
you arrive early or you are going to stay over, the train station has
shops, Adler's restaurant, and the Heidelberg Heritage Brewery to tease
the tastebuds. You definitely mustn't miss the exotic, intriguing,
underground, dungeon-like, tour called "The Hole of Fame & Shame",
by booking via the raconteurish Bouwe on 082 - 671 6595 (or find him
on-site or ask at the shops), where the tour consists of famous &
infamous personages, from criminals to Sir Winston Churchill and back
again - all with intriguing displays, and all for a mere few rands for
an experience you'll never forget.

are also three rather inexpensive tours you can book via the info-taining Tony

architecture galore: (1) Heidelberg Town Tour which includes the
gruesome old jail and exotic churches. (2) Heidelberg Kloof Cemetery
